Conflicts have been reported between MS 13 and other gangs.
On a lower level in the hierarchy of criminal gangs are street gangs in the United States (mostly branches of larger criminal gangs). Examples include:
Thursday's fight is the worst outbreak of violence inside a Mexican prison since 49 people died early last year in a battle between members of the feared Zetas drug cartel and rivals at a prison in the northern industrial city of Monterrey.
POLICE AND MMA - Why some police and x-cons are turning to Mixed Martial Arts.
The prison population continues to grow, particularly with youths, with over 60,000 people under the age of 25, currently in jail or awaiting trial. (39) Although the increase in incarcerations correlates with a reduction in homicides, the numbers of assaults and non-fatal crimes continue to climb. (40) How, then, when prisons are proving to be ineffective, can South African civil society and state respond to gang violence?
I strongly agree with this article, job opportunities can decrease the amount of gang association with teens. The busier they are the less likely they are going to have time to commit crimes. If they start working at a clothing store and do not make their goal in sales because people steal and they lose hours, it can reflect in their way of thinking. Next time their “bad” influence friends want to steal, they will reflect on their own loss when they are working hard for their money to buy the things they want. The more they are involved the more they will be around people with positive regard and influence with the same goals. Youth employment can most definitely help decrease youth violence.
